The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 2.94 million cases by Monday, April 11, 2022. Based on GISAID data, the United Kingdom recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, at 1.03 million. This represents 34.97 percent of the total global Omicron cases.
The United States follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in the US grew by 3.6 percent, reaching 808,650 cases. Daily statistics show a 1.96 percent increase compared to the previous day's 793,130 cases.
Denmark saw an 8.57 percent increase in Omicron cases, reaching 182,310 compared to the previous week. Germany experienced a 4.2 percent increase, reaching 179,500 cases, while France reported 86,358 cases (a 5.31 percent increase).
In Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 9,962, a 1.85 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial detection, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has steadily risen.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is advised to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
