Despite the decrease, President Joko Widodo stated that stronger efforts are still needed to reduce the national stunting prevalence more drastically. "The target I've set is 14% in 2024. We must achieve this; I believe that with our combined strength, we can all move forward," said President Joko Widodo, as quoted from Katadata.co.id, Wednesday (25/1/2023).
According to Jokowi, stunting is not just about a child's height. The President warned about the decreased learning ability of children, mental retardation, and the emergence of chronic diseases.
The SSGI results are one of the tools for measuring stunting targets in Indonesia. Previously, the SSGI was measured every three to five years. The Ministry of Health stated that starting in 2021, the SSGI will be conducted annually.
