COVID-19 statistics in Europe this week still depict a concerning situation, with high death tolls remaining in most countries. This week, 22 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 12 others recorded fewer deaths.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Ukraine, Montenegro, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Norway. The total deaths in these five countries as of Sunday, July 3, 2022, amounted to 91, with a weekly growth exceeding 166.67 percent.
Ukraine recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 700 percent. Worldometer recorded 24 deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported three deaths.
Montenegro follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 400 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll was recorded at five. Deaths in Sweden increased by 300%, the Netherlands recorded 26 deaths (up 188.89%), and Norway recorded 32 deaths (up 166.67%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest seven-day death toll in Europe occurred in Germany with 642 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 45.25% compared to the previous week. Following Germany, the UK reported 490 deaths (up 32.79%), Italy reported 407 deaths (up 14.65%), Russia reported 389 deaths (down 10.78%), and Spain reported 312 deaths (up 9.09%).
Total deaths in Europe over the past seven days reached 3,094. This accounts for 31.88 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 9,706. The death toll in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,724 deaths.
