Not Messi, This is Argentina's National Team Player with the Highest Valuation

Lionel Messi, the Argentinian national football team player, won the Golden Ball award as the best player in the 2022 World Cup. He previously won the same award at the 2014 World Cup.

The player, nicknamed "La Pulga" or "The Flea" in Spanish, holds the record for the most Ballon d'Or trophies in history.

However, despite his unparalleled achievements, according to Transfermarkt data, Messi's current market valuation has been matched by several younger players.

Transfermarkt measures the market valuation of football players based on various indicators, such as age, club and national team performance, level of competition played, injury history, salary, transfer fees, future potential, and others.

Considering these indicators, Transfermarkt valued Messi, at 35 years old, at EUR 45 million or approximately Rp740 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,444 per EUR) in June 2023.

Meanwhile, other younger Argentinian national team players, namely Enzo Fernandez (22 years old), Cristian Romero (25 years old), and Julian Alvarez (23 years old), are valued higher.

Enzo Fernandez has the highest valuation among current Argentinian national team players, at EUR 85 million or approximately Rp1.39 trillion.

Besides playing for the Argentinian national team, Enzo Fernandez currently plays as a central midfielder for Chelsea. He also won the award for best young player in the 2022 World Cup.
