Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 146 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Tuesday, December 13, 2022, shows a national average of 0.58 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, East Jakarta, and South Tangerang, with 6.19, 5.8, 5.26, 4.37, and 4.08 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 6.19 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 7.99 percent, which is lower than the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 5.8 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 8.18 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 5.26 tests per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta 4.37, and South Tangerang 4.08.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 160 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 166 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some of the areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (5.26 tests per 1,000 people per week), Teluk Wondama (4.07), and Gunungsitoli (3.83).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
