Based on national Covid-19 data, 158 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Saturday, May 21, 2022, shows a national average of 1.94 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Supiori, Lamongan, Teluk Wondama, Balikpapan City, and Central Jakarta City, with respective figures of 13.56, 11.4, 10.63, 10.13, and 9.82 tests per 1,000 people per week.
Supiori ranks first. With a population of 21,170, the number of people tested there was 13.56 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.7 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Lamongan. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 11.4 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region was 0.01 percent, also an increase from the previous week.
Following this, Teluk Wondama recorded 10.63 tests per 1,000 people per week, Balikpapan City 10.13, and Central Jakarta City 9.82.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact across various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 16 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 373 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Supiori, Teluk Wondama, and Balikpapan City, with 13.56, 10.63, and 10.13 tests per 1,000 people per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
