Indonesia's Hajj Quota Finally Increased by 52,000

The Saudi Arabian government has finally increased Indonesia's Hajj quota by 52,200 pilgrims for the 2017 Hajj season. In addition to restoring the quota to 211,000, the Saudi Arabian government also added a further 10,000. Therefore, Indonesia's total Hajj quota in 2017 reached 221,000. This is also the largest quota since 2012.

The expansion of the Grand Mosque complex led the Saudi Arabian government to reduce the Hajj quota from all over the world, including Indonesia. Since 2014, Indonesia's Hajj quota has been reduced to 168,800 from the previous 211,000 pilgrims until 2016.

Indonesia has the world's largest Muslim population, and the high public enthusiasm for performing the Hajj pilgrimage has resulted in extremely long waiting lists to perform this fifth pillar of Islam.
