According to data from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), 213,275 Indonesian regular Hajj pilgrims departed in 2025.
Broken down by occupation, the largest group consisted of housewives, numbering 57,650. This accounts for 27% of the total participants.
Next were private employees, totaling 46,878. Then there were civil servants (ASN/PNS) numbering 44,032.
Other occupations had significantly lower numbers, all less than 30,000, including farmers, traders, retirees, students, and members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri). The complete list is as follows:

This distribution also affects the gender proportion. The 2025 Hajj pilgrims were predominantly female, at 55.6%, with males accounting for 44.4%.
Kemenag also noted that the majority, or 98.5%, of this year's Hajj pilgrims had never performed the Hajj pilgrimage before, while the remaining 1.5% were repeat pilgrims.
