This week's Covid-19 statistics in the Americas show a decline in deaths in most countries, a reversal from the previous trend of continuous increases. This week, one country reported an increase in deaths, while five others reported fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Peru, the United States, Guatemala, Chile, and Mexico. The total deaths in these five countries for the week of March 5th, 2023, amounted to 1,219, with a weekly growth rate above -34.98 percent.
Peru ranks first, with a weekly increase in deaths of 16.88 percent. Worldometer recorded 90 deaths in this country, a 1.1 percent increase compared to the previous day.
The United States follows, with a weekly growth rate of deaths reaching -4.98 percent. The number of deaths reported in this country was 897. Daily statistics show a 12.32% decrease in deaths compared to the previous day, which saw 1,023 deaths.
Next is Guatemala with 10 deaths (down 9.09%), Chile with a 29.67% decrease in deaths, and Mexico with 158 deaths (down 34.98%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the Americas over the past seven days occurred in the United States, with 897 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 4.98% compared to the previous week. Following the United States, Brazil recorded 343 deaths (down 61.29%), Mexico 158 deaths (down 34.98%), Peru 90 deaths (up 16.88%), and Chile 64 deaths (down 29.67%).
Total deaths in the Americas over the past seven days were recorded at 1,562. This accounts for 40.87 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 3,822. The number of deaths in the Americas decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,252 deaths.
