Indonesia's Covid-19 report notes that 1,459 healthcare workers have died from the coronavirus until Wednesday, July 21, 2021. The majority of healthcare workers who died from the deadly virus were doctors, totaling 545.
A total of 453 nurses also died from the coronavirus. Furthermore, 235 midwives died after contracting the deadly virus.
Pharmacists who died from the coronavirus reached 47. 46 dentists also died from the coronavirus.
There were 43 medical laboratory technicians (MLTs) who died from the coronavirus. Radiology technicians and sanitation workers who died from the coronavirus numbered nine and five, respectively.
Dental therapists, electromedical personnel, pharmacy personnel, and ambulance personnel who died from the coronavirus each totaled three. Two epidemiologists died from the coronavirus.
One medical physicist and one entomologist also died from the coronavirus. Meanwhile, there were 60 deaths from the coronavirus among other healthcare workers.
The high number of healthcare worker deaths coincides with the increase in coronavirus cases in Indonesia. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the implementation of the 3M health protocol—wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap—is crucial. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
