Top 10 Regencies/Cities with the Highest Number of People Examined (Thursday, September 8, 2022)

Based on national Covid-19 data, 144 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Thursday, September 8, 2022, shows a national average of 0.53 tests per 1000 people per week.

The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1000 people per week, are South Jakarta (6.18 people), Central Jakarta (5.87 people), West Jakarta (4.25 people), South Tangerang (4.08 people), and North Jakarta (3.86 people).

South Jakarta ranks first, with 6.18 people tested per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 9.98 percent, down from the previous week.

Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 5.87 people per 1000 people per week were tested. The positive rate in this area is 12.29 percent, up from the previous week.

Covid-19 testing in West Jakarta recorded 4.25 people per 1000 people per week. South Tangerang recorded 4.08 people per 1000 people per week, and North Jakarta recorded 3.86 people per 1000 people per week.

In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 119 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 196 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.

Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.64 people), Badung (3.42 people), and Mimika (3.16 people).

Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
