Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 152 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data as of Thursday, January 5, 2023, shows a national average of 125.78 tests per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of tests per week are Denpasar, Bandung Barat, Pekanbaru, Batam, and Malang, with 967, 961, 943, 919, and 898 tests per week, respectively.
Denpasar ranks first, with 967 tests per week. The latest positive rate is 1.03 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Bandung Barat follows, conducting 961 tests per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Its positive rate is 4.06 percent, also down from the previous week.
Pekanbaru recorded 943 tests per week, Batam 919, and Malang 898.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 194 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of weekly tests compared to the previous week. Conversely, 145 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of weekly tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, cities with the highest number of weekly tests include Denpasar (967 tests), Pekanbaru (943 tests), and Batam (919 tests).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
