Based on national Covid-19 data, 155 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Friday, December 23, 2022, shows a national average of 0.49 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are Balikpapan City (4.95 people), South Jakarta City (4.92 people), Central Jakarta City (4.88 people), East Jakarta City (3.52 people), and West Jakarta City (3.18 people).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the number of people tested there was 4.95 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.44 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is South Jakarta City. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 4.92 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region was 3.83 percent, down from the previous week's percentage.
Then, Central Jakarta City recorded 4.88 tests per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta City 3.52 tests per 1,000 people per week, and West Jakarta City 3.18 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 105 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 212 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Balikpapan City, Gunungsitoli City, and Mimika Regency, with 4.95, 3.15, and 2.76 people tested per 1,000 respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
