Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 188 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. As of Monday, March 28, 2022, the national average was 221.91 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Timor Tengah Selatan, Kampar, Tasikmalaya City, Sorong City, and Bengkalis, with 994, 992, 986, 978, and 968 tests per week respectively.
Timor Tengah Selatan ranks first. With a population of 473,690, 994 tests were conducted in the last week. The latest positive rate is 2.31 percent, lower than the previous week's ratio.
Next is Kampar. With a population of 896,680, 992 tests were conducted last week in an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate was 4.03 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Furthermore, 986 Covid-19 tests were conducted last week in Tasikmalaya City, 978 in Sorong City (population 282,370), and 968 in Bengkalis.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 140 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 243 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests last week compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of tests last week include Timor Tengah Selatan, Kampar, and Sorong City, with 994, 992, and 978 tests respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
