With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 144 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Thursday, January 12, 2023, shows a national average of 133.39 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Deli Serdang (971 people), Kediri (968 people), Semarang (911 people), Sukabumi (895 people), and Pekanbaru City (889 people).
Deli Serdang ranks first, with 971 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 1.34 percent, an increase compared to the previous week.
Next is Kediri, which tested 968 people per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 0.93 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Semarang recorded 911 tests per week, while Sukabumi recorded 895 and Pekanbaru City 889.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 178 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested per week than the previous week. Meanwhile, 161 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested per week compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested per week include Deli Serdang, Pekanbaru City, and Batam City, with 971, 889, and 796 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
