The Indonesian government continues to push the Covid-19 vaccination program throughout Indonesia to suppress the spread of the coronavirus. As of 6 PM on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, a total of 64,229,890 people in Indonesia had received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. In addition, 36,454,433 of those individuals have received their second dose.
However, the first dose vaccination in the country only covers 30.84% of the target of 208,265,720 people. Coverage is also only 17.50% of the target for the second dose.
1,652,594 health workers have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, or 112.52% of the target. Of that number, 1,532,177 people, or 104.32% of the target, have also received the second dose. Furthermore, 653,351 people, or 44.48% of the target, have received a third dose. Among public service workers, 34,220,145 people, or 197.49% of the target, have received the first dose. Then, 19,390,587 people, or 111.91% of the target, have received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The number of elderly people vaccinated is recorded as 5,311,741 for the first dose and 3,776,532 for the second dose. However, this number only equates to 24.64% and 17.52% of the target, respectively. 19,531,232 people from the general public have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, or 13.83% of the target. 9,452,643 of them, or 6.69% of the target, have also received the second dose.
For those aged 12-17 years, 2,690,891 people have received the first dose, or 10.08% of the target, while 1,796,315 people have received the second dose, or 6.73% of the target. There are also individuals who received the Covid-19 vaccine through the Gotong Royong (mutual cooperation) program. The number for the first dose is 815,148 people, or 5.43% of the target, while the number for the second dose is 504,879 people, or 3.37% of the target.
Vaccination is important to reduce the risk of death and illness from coronavirus. Therefore, the public is urged to participate in the ongoing vaccination program. In addition, the public needs to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
