President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the disbursement of fuel subsidy cash assistance (BLT BBM) has been almost 100% completed. This assistance serves as a social safety net following the increase in fuel prices on September 3, 2022.
It should be noted that the government provided BLT BBM in the form of Rp600,000 to 20.65 million beneficiary families (KPM). The realization has reached 19.7 million people, or 95.9%.
The government has prepared a budget of Rp24.17 trillion for social assistance as a redirection of fuel subsidies. Rp12.4 trillion of this amount is allocated for social assistance in the form of Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) of Rp300,000, which will be paid in two installments.
Furthermore, Rp9.6 trillion has been disbursed for wage subsidy assistance (BSU) to 16 million workers with salaries below Rp3.5 million or below the minimum wage.
However, after data collection by the Ministry of Manpower and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, only 14.6 million workers met the requirements to receive BSU.
Other subsidy reallocations include Rp2.17 trillion in social assistance from regional governments. This fund, representing 2% of the General Transfer Fund (DTU), namely the General Allocation Fund (DAU) and the Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH), is intended for subsidies to other sectors such as public transportation, motorcycle taxis (ojek), and MSMEs.
