This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 24 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while seven others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are the United Kingdom, Sweden, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Poland. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Tuesday, July 26, 2022, was 502, with a weekly growth exceeding 135.29 percent.
The United Kingdom recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 1,293.55 percent. Worldometer recorded 432 deaths in the country, a significant increase compared to the previous week's reported 31 deaths.
Next is Sweden, which recorded a 700 percent increase in deaths compared to the previous week. The number of deaths in this country was reported as eight, compared to one the previous week. North Macedonia recorded 14 deaths (up 250%), Montenegro saw a 166.67% increase in deaths, and Poland saw a 135.29% increase.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Italy, with 950 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 18.16% compared to the previous week. Following Italy, Spain recorded 691 deaths (up 52.54%), France recorded 689 deaths (up 5.03%), Germany recorded 644 deaths (up 7.33%), and the United Kingdom recorded 432 deaths (up 1,293.55%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the last seven days was 4,383. This accounts for 35.82 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 12,235. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,497 deaths.
