Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 152 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Thursday, December 29, 2022, shows a national average of 134.6 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Surakarta City (969 people), West Bandung (960 people), Gresik (948 people), Tasikmalaya (922 people), and Indramayu (904 people).
Surakarta City ranks first. With a population of 519,800, the number of people tested in the past week was 969 per week. The latest positive rate is 1.55 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is West Bandung. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the past week was 960 per week. The positive rate in this region is 6.35 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, the number of Covid-19 tests conducted in Gresik in the past week was 948 per week, in Tasikmalaya 922 per week, and in Indramayu 904 per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 109 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of people tested in the past week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 248 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the past week compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of people tested in the past week include Samarinda City, Denpasar City, and Makassar City, with 880, 872, and 814 people tested in the past week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
