Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 152 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Wednesday, December 28, 2022, shows a national average of 135.73 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are West Bandung Regency, Denpasar City, Samarinda City, Gresik Regency, and Kediri Regency, with weekly test numbers of 963, 961, 957, 946, and 925 respectively.
West Bandung Regency ranks first, with 963 tests per week. The latest positive rate is 6.23 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Denpasar City. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 961 tests were conducted per week. The positive rate is 1.87 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Samarinda City, with a population of 866,880, recorded 957 tests per week. Gresik Regency recorded 946 tests per week, and Kediri Regency recorded 925 tests per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 133 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 221 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of weekly tests include Denpasar City, Samarinda City, and Deli Serdang Regency, with 961, 957, and 912 tests per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
