This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 18 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 10 other countries recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Germany, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Lithuania. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Wednesday, June 29, 2022, was 513, with a weekly growth exceeding 100 percent.
Germany ranks first, with a weekly increase in deaths growing by 653.85 percent. In this country, Worldometer recorded 490 deaths, an increase of 11.71 percent compared to the previous day.
Next is Slovenia, which recorded deaths 400 percent higher than the previous week. For daily data, deaths in this country increased by 66.67% compared to yesterday. Meanwhile, deaths in Montenegro increased by 100%, deaths in Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 100%, and deaths in Lithuania increased by 100%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Germany with 490 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 653.85% compared to the previous week. Following Germany, the highest number of deaths was recorded in Russia with 425 deaths (down 3.41%), the United Kingdom with 422 deaths (up 23.03%), Italy with 392 deaths (up 16.32%), and Spain with 302 deaths (down 17.26%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 2,877. This accounts for 32.29 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 8,910. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,440 deaths.
