According to a survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) of approximately 2,000 Indonesians, 32.8% had never used telemedicine.

The survey defines telemedicine users as those who have used online consultation services with doctors, either through online services from hospitals/clinics or using third-party digital applications.

The most common reason for not using telemedicine, chosen by 72% of respondents, was a preference for in-person interaction with doctors.

Furthermore, 40.5% had not used the service because they lived near healthcare facilities, 30.5% were unsure about the accuracy of online diagnoses, and 14.9% cited internet network constraints.

Another 12% expressed concerns about the security of personal data and medical records when using telemedicine services.

Other reasons, selected with varying percentages, included health conditions unsuitable for online treatment, inadequate gadget capacity and specifications, difficulty using telemedicine services, and inaccessibility of online transportation to their residence.

A small percentage also cited unfamiliarity with gadgets and lack of need for such services, as shown in the graph.

This survey involved 2,108 respondents aged 16 and above across Indonesia. Conducted from February 28 to March 7, 2022, the online survey had a margin of error of approximately 2.3%.
