A Katadata Insight Center (KIC) survey found that community health centers (Puskesmas) are the closest healthcare facilities for the majority of respondents. 84.8% of respondents stated that travel time from their homes to the nearest Puskesmas is less than 30 minutes.
Only 3.3% of respondents reported a travel time of more than 60 minutes. For private clinics, 71% of respondents stated that travel time from their homes is less than 30 minutes, and 5.8% reported more than 60 minutes.
KIC also found that 67.6% of respondents needed less than 30 minutes to reach a private doctor's practice, while 10.4% needed more than an hour.
Private hospitals and regional general hospitals (RSUD) are the furthest healthcare facilities from respondents' homes. KIC found that the percentage of respondents stating a travel time of less than 30 minutes to private hospitals and RSUDs is below 50%. Specifically, only 45.6% of respondents reported a travel time of less than 30 minutes to reach private hospitals, and 39.3% for RSUDs.
The KIC survey also reported that the ideal travel time from home to a healthcare facility is 30 minutes. However, the national average travel time to a Puskesmas is 32 minutes. Travel time to a hospital averages more than 40 minutes.
