Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuing efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 149 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Thursday, July 14, 2022, shows the national average testing rate is 0.94 people per 1000 population/week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Badung, South Tangerang, and East Jakarta, with respective figures of 11.01 people per 1000 population/week, 9.93 people per 1000 population/week, 7.46 people per 1000 population/week, 6.7 people per 1000 population/week, and 6.7 people per 1000 population/week.
South Jakarta ranks first. The number of people tested there is recorded at 11.01 per 1000 population/week. The latest positive rate is 10.06 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Central Jakarta. The population of this region is recorded at 913,720. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 9.93 per 1000 population/week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 8.83 percent, also higher than the previous week's ratio.
Then, Badung recorded 7.46 tests per 1000 population/week, South Tangerang recorded 6.7 tests per 1000 population/week, and the number of people tested in East Jakarta is also recorded at 6.7 per 1000 population/week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 199 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 146 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Badung, Mimika, and Sorong, with 7.46, 5.78, and 5.71 people tested respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
