The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 1.91 million cases by Friday, March 4, 2022. According to GISAID data, Algeria recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with 14 new cases. The total number of Omicron cases in Algeria currently represents 0 percent of the global total.
Montenegro follows, with a weekly growth in Omicron cases reaching 400 percent. 95 new Omicron cases were reported in the country. Daily statistics show a 3.26 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 92 cases.
Next, the increase in Omicron cases in the Republic of Moldova rose by 302.22 percent to 181 cases compared to the previous week. Ghana saw a 321-case increase (up 301.25%), and Guinea saw a 284.21 percent increase, reaching 73 cases compared to the previous week.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 7,208, a 4.77 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has continued to rise.
