The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded an average of 3.07 weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population in South Sulawesi, as of Thursday, October 20, 2022. This figure is higher than the national average, which currently stands at 2.52 per 100,000 population per week.
North Toraja Regency had the highest number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases, at 9.2 per 100,000 population per week. The number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases in this regency shows no improvement, having increased from 2.09 per 100,000 population per week the previous week.
The same situation occurred in Makassar City, which recorded 8.27 weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population. This regency also saw a higher number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases compared to the previous week, which was 4.71 per 100,000 population per week. Soppeng Regency follows, recording 7.83 weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population.
Maros and Selayar Islands are next, with 7.78 and 4.38 weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population, respectively.
Nationally, the average number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases across the 34 provinces is currently on an upward trend compared to the previous week, which was 2.02 per 100,000 population per week.
