Anticipating the impact of the rising Omicron variant, 173 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Friday, April 8, 2022, shows a national average of 1.72 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week, are Mimika (10.64 people), Central Jakarta (10.39 people), South Jakarta (10.26 people), Badung (10.17 people), and Balikpapan (10.06 people).
Mimika ranks first. With a population of 221,810, the number of people tested there was 10.64 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.42 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta. With a population of 913,720, the number of people tested was 10.39 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this area is 3.12 percent, higher than the previous week.
Furthermore, Badung recorded 10.26 tests per 1,000 people per week, while Balikpapan recorded 10.06 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid data, 323 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 57 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Mimika, Badung, and Balikpapan, with 10.64, 10.17, and 10.06 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
