In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Mauritius, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, and Botswana. The total deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, August 27, 2022, amounted to 30, with a weekly growth rate exceeding -66.67 percent.
Mauritius recorded the highest increase in deaths in Africa, with weekly growth reaching 100 percent. Worldometer recorded two deaths in the country, a 100 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Morocco follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 0 percent. The number of deaths reported was two, the same as the previous week.
Rounding out the top five, deaths in Zimbabwe decreased by 50%, Tunisia recorded 24 deaths (down 57.14%), and deaths in Botswana decreased by 66.67%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Africa occurred in Tunisia with 24 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 57.14% compared to the previous week. Following this, Mauritius reported two deaths (up 100%), Morocco reported two deaths (down 0%), Zimbabwe reported one death (down 50%), and Botswana reported one death (down 66.67%).
Total deaths in Africa over the past seven days totaled 31. This accounts for 0.22 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, which totaled 13,986. The number of deaths in Africa decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 76 deaths.
