A total of 2,032 healthcare workers died from COVID-19 by October 2021.

COVID-19 reports indicate that the number of healthcare workers who died from COVID-19 increased by two in October 2021. With this addition, the total number of healthcare workers who died from the coronavirus in Indonesia is 2,032.

The majority of healthcare workers who died from COVID-19 were doctors, totaling 730. Furthermore, 670 nurses and 388 midwives died from the virus.

East Java has the highest number of healthcare worker deaths in Indonesia, with 643. West Java and Central Java follow with 225 and 193 deaths, respectively.

The trend shows a decrease in COVID-19-related deaths among healthcare workers over the past three months. The decrease is 99.60% compared to July 2021, when 502 healthcare workers died.

Although the number of healthcare workers dying from the coronavirus is decreasing, each life is precious. Therefore, efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus are necessary to reduce further fatalities.

One preventative measure the public can take is to diligently follow the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to reduce mobility and avoid crowds.
