COVID-19 cases in Indonesia are rising again, in line with the increase in active coronavirus cases in the country.
According to a report from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Indonesia reached 14,516 cases as of June 26, 2022. This is an increase of 548 cases from the previous day.
Jakarta has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases, with 8,524 cases. This is equivalent to 58.72% of the total national active cases.
West Java is in second place with 2,765 active COVID-19 cases. Banten and Bali are in third and fourth place, respectively, with 1,450 and 482 active COVID-19 cases.
Central Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta Special Region have 308, 262, and 157 active COVID-19 cases, respectively.
North Sumatra and Papua are also among the provinces with the highest number of active COVID-19 cases, with 52 cases each. South Sumatra has 50 active COVID-19 cases.
The total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia reached 6,080,451 cases as of June 27, 2022. 2.57% of these cases resulted in death, and 97.18% have recovered.
With the increase in active COVID-19 cases in the country, the public needs to be more vigilant. Health protocols must continue to be followed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
This includes wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to get booster vaccinations to strengthen their immunity and reduce the severity of coronavirus infection.
