The total number of active COVID-19 cases in Indonesia was recorded at 443,473 as of Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Six provinces on the island of Java account for 73% of the total active cases.
West Java has the highest number of active cases, with 101,742. Jakarta follows with 99,723 active cases.
Central Java has 53,756 active cases, while East Java has 26,996. Yogyakarta and Banten reported 22,628 and 19,059 active cases respectively.
Several provinces outside Java also reported high numbers of active cases. East Kalimantan, for example, has 12,069 active cases.
Papua has 10,477 active cases. The number of active cases in East Nusa Tenggara, Central Kalimantan, West Sumatra, Riau Islands, and Riau are also above five thousand.
Meanwhile, Gorontalo and West Sulawesi have fewer than a thousand active cases. The number of active cases in Central Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, and Southeast Sulawesi are in the thousands.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the public is urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
