Based on national Covid-19 data, 168 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Saturday, April 16, 2022, shows a national average of 2.12 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, in descending order, are Mimika, Badung, South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and Balikpapan, with 14.07, 13.44, 11.03, 10.96, and 10.87 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Mimika ranks first. With a population of 221,810, the number of people tested was 14.07 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.45 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Badung. With a population of 727,950, the number of people tested was 13.44 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate was 0.89 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Following this, Central Jakarta recorded 11.03 tests per 1,000 people per week, while South Jakarta recorded 10.96 and Balikpapan 10.87.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows that 102 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 277 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Mimika, Badung, and Balikpapan, with 14.07, 13.44, and 10.87 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
