Active Covid-19 cases are decreasing in line with the decline in coronavirus transmission domestically. Based on a report from the Covid-19 Task Force, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia has now fallen to 6,951 as of May 3, 2022.
West Java has the highest number of active Covid-19 cases with 1,662 cases. This is equivalent to 23.91% of the total national active cases.
Central Java is in second place with 1,087 active Covid-19 cases. Next, in third and fourth place are DKI Jakarta and Lampung with 845 and 828 active Covid-19 cases respectively.
Furthermore, Riau and Banten have 360 and 336 active Covid-19 cases respectively.
Yogyakarta, Bali, and East Java are also among the provinces with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases, namely 185, 181, and 179 cases respectively. Meanwhile, Papua recorded 168 active Covid-19 cases.
The total number of positive Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 6,047,315 by May 3, 2022. 2.58% of these cases resulted in death, and 97.30% have recovered.
Although national active Covid-19 cases are decreasing, the public must remain vigilant. Especially during the Lebaran holiday season, when people's mobility outside the home increases.
Health protocols must still be followed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, namely by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is also encouraged to get booster vaccinations to strengthen immunity and reduce the severity of coronavirus infection.
