The top five, starting from the highest, are Serang City, Kendari City, Kudus, Tasikmalaya, and Sukoharjo, with weekly specimen numbers of 984, 981, 950, 947, and 937, respectively.
Serang City ranks first. With a population of 718,430, the number of specimens examined is 984 per week. The latest positive rate is 0.59 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week.
Next is Kendari City. The population is 411,830. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 981 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate in this region is 0 percent, a decrease from the previous week's percentage.
Specimen examinations in Kudus totaled 950 per week, Tasikmalaya 947 per week, and Sukoharjo, with a population of 903,750, recorded 937 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 127 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 186 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Kendari City, Tarakan City, and Mimika, with 981, 937, and 898 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
