Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 138 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Monday, December 12, 2022, shows a national average of 0.59 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, East Jakarta, and South Tangerang, with respective figures of 6.38, 6.08, 5.5, 4.49, and 4.22 people tested per 1000 people per week.
South Jakarta ranks first, with 6.38 people tested per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.37 percent, which is lower than the previous week's ratio.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 6.08 people per 1000 people per week were tested. The positive rate in this area is 9.14 percent, also lower than the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Covid-19 testing in Balikpapan recorded 5.5 people per 1000 people per week. East Jakarta recorded 4.49 people per 1000 people per week, and South Tangerang recorded 4.22 people per 1000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 133 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 175 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Balikpapan (5.5 people), Teluk Wondama (4.04 people), and Gunungsitoli (3.47 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
