Active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia are currently declining again. According to the Covid-19 Task Force report, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is now 46,366 as of Sunday, August 28, 2022.
The total number of Covid-19 cases reported to date has reached 6.35 million. Of these, 157,500 people have died and 6.14 million have recovered.
Although active Covid-19 cases in the country are decreasing, the public must remain vigilant. Especially since the coronavirus has the potential to remain contagious, even after events like Lebaran, as is the case currently.
Adherence to health protocols is still expected to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, namely by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is also urged to get booster vaccinations to strengthen immunity and reduce the severity of infection from the coronavirus.
In the latest news on Covid-19 developments, the Ministry of Health has found that two new Omicron subvariants, BA.4 and BA.5, are contributing to the resurgence of infections in Indonesia. The lowest number of active Covid cases in Indonesia was previously recorded at 2,871 cases on May 30, 2022. Afterward, active Covid cases began to rise along with an increase in confirmed positive cases in the country.
Therefore, Indonesia needs to be vigilant. The public is urged to continue to strive to prevent the spread of the coronavirus by implementing health protocols such as wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and limiting mobility.
