To curb the spread of Covid-19 in regions, 174 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly tests exceeding the national average. Data as of Thursday, April 7, 2022, shows a national average of 103 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Balikpapan City, Badung Regency, Bontang City, Tarakan City, and Teluk Wondama Regency, with percentages of 998.91 percent, 947.94 percent, 925.27 percent, 806.02 percent, and 671.43 percent, respectively.
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, its weekly testing percentage is recorded at 998.91 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.76 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Badung Regency. This region has a population of 727,950. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 947.94 percent. The positive rate in this region is 1.65 percent, also down from the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, the weekly testing percentage in Bontang City is 925.27 percent; Tarakan City, with a population of 267,270, has a weekly testing percentage of 806.02 percent; and Teluk Wondama Regency, with a population of 34,898, has a weekly testing percentage of 671.43 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a national Covid data recapitulation, 308 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively report a higher daily weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 79 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Balikpapan City, Badung Regency, and Bontang City, with weekly testing percentages of 998.91 percent, 947.94 percent, and 925.27 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
