Based on national Covid-19 data, 138 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of January 29, 2023, shows a national average of 0.27 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, ranked from highest to lowest number of tests per 1,000 people per week, are: Central Jakarta (2.86 people), Balikpapan (2.65 people), South Jakarta (2.58 people), Badung (2.49 people), and East Jakarta (2.11 people).
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 914,530, the number of people tested was 2.86 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 1.72 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Balikpapan. With a population of 649,420, the number of people tested was 2.65 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate was 0.17 percent, higher than the previous week.
South Jakarta recorded 2.58 tests per 1,000 people per week; Badung recorded 2.49 tests per 1,000 people per week; and East Jakarta recorded 2.11 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron variant's impact, national Covid-19 data shows 25 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. 70 other regencies/cities reported lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (2.65 people), Badung (2.49 people), and Kutai Kartanegara (1.84 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
