In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Suriname, Ecuador, Paraguay, Colombia, and Mexico. The total deaths in these five countries as of Monday, October 31, 2022, amounted to 90, with a weekly growth exceeding 41.86 percent.
Suriname recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths in the Americas, with weekly growth reaching 300 percent. Worldometer recorded four deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's single death.
Next is Ecuador, which recorded 200 percent more deaths compared to the previous week. The country reported 12 more deaths than the previous week's four. Deaths in Paraguay increased by 50%, Colombia by 10 deaths (up 42.86%), and Mexico by 41.86%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the Americas over the past seven days occurred in the United States, with 1,342 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 1.98% compared to the previous week. Following the US, Brazil recorded 475 deaths (down 1.66%), Canada 260 deaths (up 8.33%), Chile 128 deaths (up 10.34%), and Mexico 61 deaths (up 41.86%).
Total deaths in the Americas over the past seven days reached 2,337. This accounts for 28.25 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 8,273. The number of deaths in the Americas increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,297.
