The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.54 million cases by Monday, April 3, 2023. Brunei Darussalam ranks first, with a weekly increase in Omicron cases of 1.75 percent. GISAID recorded 5,297 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 0.27 percent compared to the previous day.
Next is Iceland, which recorded a 1.65 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily Omicron cases in the country increased by 0.01 percent compared to the previous day.
Then, North Korea reported 99,952 new Omicron cases (a 1.18% increase). In Indonesia, new Omicron cases increased by 1.1 percent to 35,111 compared to the previous week, and in India, new Omicron cases increased by 0.78 percent to 127,200 compared to the previous week.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, 35,111 new Omicron cases were recorded today, a 0.42 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
