National Police Chief General (Police) Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the number of disciplinary violations, violations of the Indonesian National Police Code of Ethics (KEPP), and criminal offenses committed by members of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) decreased in 2021.
This statement was made by Police Chief Listyo in a meeting with Commission III of the DPR (House of Representatives) last year, as reported by *Kompas.com*.
He explained that the National Police will conduct supervision down to the smallest units, or police sectors (Polsek), to ensure the smooth operation of the National Police's duties. The National Police is committed to taking firm action against any members who commit misconduct.
"Because these individuals have damaged the institution and the positive achievements made by their colleagues," said Police Chief Listyo in the meeting.
However, public trust in the police institution has been put to the test again regarding the death of Brigadier J at the official residence of Inspector General Ferdi Sambo, a case deemed unusual and full of unanswered questions.
Many National Police officials were removed from their positions for unprofessional conduct in handling the case. Even Fahmi Alamsyah, the National Police Chief's Expert Advisor for Public Communication, was implicated in the swirling controversy surrounding Brigadier J's death. The culmination was the designation of former Head of the National Police's Internal Affairs Division (Kadiv Propam), Inspector General Ferdi Sambo, as a suspect for allegedly being the mastermind behind Brigadier J's murder last July.
The revelation of this premeditated murder will add to the list of violations committed by National Police members. The following data shows violations committed by National Police members in 2021:
* Disciplinary Violations: 2,621 cases
* KEPP Violations: 1,305 cases
* Criminal Offenses: 1,013 cases
