This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe show that most countries have recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, a contrast to the previous situation where the death toll continued to rise. This week, 13 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 17 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Switzerland, Estonia, the United Kingdom, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Austria. The total deaths in these five countries as of Thursday, September 29, 2022, amounted to 203, with a weekly growth exceeding 73.91 percent.
Switzerland ranks first, with a weekly increase in deaths growing by 150 percent. Worldometer recorded five deaths in this country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported two deaths.
Estonia follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 133.33 percent. The number of deaths reported in this country was 14, compared to six the previous week.
Rounding out the top five, the UK recorded 125 deaths (up 111.86%), Bosnia and Herzegovina saw a 90% increase in deaths, and Austria recorded 40 deaths (up 73.91%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Russia, with 709 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 0.56% compared to the previous week. Following Russia, Germany recorded 545 deaths (down 0.37%), Italy recorded 307 deaths (down 1.29%), Spain recorded 239 deaths (down 42.69%), and France recorded 209 deaths (down 1.88%).
Total deaths in Europe over the past seven days were recorded at 2,801. This accounts for 35.82 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 7,820. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,930 deaths.
