Based on data from the Directorate General of Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health, the national recovery rate for COVID-19 patients reached 82.23% throughout 2020. This figure was obtained from 611,097 recovered cases out of a total of 743,198 confirmed cases throughout last year.
Riau province recorded the highest national COVID-19 recovery rate at 92.54%. Of the 24,966 people infected with the coronavirus, 23,104 recovered.
Bali ranked second with a recovery rate of 91.12%. Throughout last year, there were 17,593 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bali, with 16,031 recovering. West Papua followed in third place with a recovery rate of 91.05%. There were 5,979 confirmed coronavirus cases, and 5,444 recovered.
Meanwhile, the province with the lowest recovery rate last year was Central Sulawesi, at only 52.51%. Of the 3,552 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Central Sulawesi, only about half, or 52.51%, of COVID-19 patients recovered. Other provinces with low COVID-19 recovery rates include Papua with a recovery rate of 53.63%. Of the 13,216 people infected with the coronavirus, only 7,088 recovered. Next is East Nusa Tenggara with a recovery rate of 55.47%. Of the total 2,167 confirmed COVID-19 cases, only 1,202 patients recovered.
Sixteen provinces had COVID-19 recovery rates above the national average. The remaining 24 provinces had recovery rates below the national average.
