COVID-19 Hospital Bed Occupancy in Bali and Aceh Highest Nationwide

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reports a decreasing bed occupancy rate (BOR) in hospitals designated for COVID-19 treatment. Nationally, the average hospital BOR was 15% as of the week of September 12, 2021.

Bali and Aceh had the highest hospital BOR at 33%. However, this is still below the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 60%.

Bangka Belitung followed with the next highest BOR at 31%, followed by North Kalimantan at 29%, Papua at 28%, and Riau Islands at 27%.

In Java, Yogyakarta recorded the highest BOR at 22%, followed by East Java at 14%.

West Java, Central Java, and DKI Jakarta all had a BOR of 10%, while Banten had a BOR of 8%.

This decrease in hospital BOR aligns with the declining trend of COVID-19 cases. According to data from the COVID-19 Task Force, there were 99,696 active COVID-19 cases in Indonesia on Monday, September 13, 2021.

Despite the decrease in hospital BOR, the public is still urged to diligently follow the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. These protocols are crucial in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
