Hospital bed occupancy rates (BOR) for COVID-19 treatment in Jakarta reached 93% by Saturday, June 26, 2021. This figure is the highest compared to other provinces in Indonesia.
Five other provinces in Java follow. In detail, the hospital BOR in Banten reached 91%. Then, the hospital BOR in West Java is 89%.
The hospital BOR in Yogyakarta is recorded at 87%. Following are Central Java and East Java with hospital BORs of 86% and 76%, respectively.
Meanwhile, 28 other provinces have hospital BORs below 70%. West Kalimantan, for example, has a hospital BOR of 66%. Lampung and Riau Islands follow with hospital BORs of 65% and 60%, respectively.
Director of Referral Health Services at the Ministry of Health, Rita Rogayah, stated that Jakarta's high hospital BOR puts it in the red zone. Based on this, Rita urged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to exercise caution and immediately increase the number of hospital beds for COVID-19 treatment.
To reduce hospital BOR, the public is also urged to prevent the spread of COVID-19. One way is to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
