GoFood Became the Most Popular Platform for UMKM Food Sales in 2022

GoFood is the most popular platform used by Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This proportion can reach 99.3%.

The online food delivery service GoFood is the most popular platform used by Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This proportion can reach 99.3% of the total respondents.

This finding is based on research by Alvara Research Center published in November 2022. Below GoFood is GrabFood, with a score of 98.8%.

Meanwhile, ShopeeFood is in third place with a considerably larger gap in proportion, at 70.2%. Other platforms account for 10.8%.

Generally, Alvara states that the majority of MSMEs in this survey use 3 online food delivery (OFD) platforms. Furthermore, 3 out of 4 MSMEs have partnered with OFDs for more than 3 years.

Although the number of MSMEs joining OFDs increased before the Covid-19 pandemic, a sharp increase occurred during the pandemic years of 2020-2021. A total of 45.8% joined using OFDs.

"There is an indication that at least 2 OFD platforms are used, and the majority are GoFood and GrabFood users," wrote Alvara in its report.

This survey was conducted to measure the development of digitalization of culinary MSMEs in Indonesia using OFDs or online motorcycle taxis.

At least 1,937 MSME actors were respondents. They are spread across five major areas in Indonesia, namely Jabodetabek, Surabaya, Medan, Makassar, and Bandung.

The survey method used multistage random sampling with a margin of error of 2.27%. The survey was conducted from August to October 2022.
