Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in the first quarter of 2020, the chemical, pharmaceutical, and traditional medicine industry, including cosmetics, grew by 5.59%. The Indonesian cosmetics market is also projected to grow by 7% in 2021.
According to research by Compas from August 1-15, several body care brands were most sought after by consumers. Here is a list of the top 10 best-selling body care brands.
1. Scarlett (18.9%)
This brand, launched in 2018, has managed to lead the body care product market from August 1-15, 2021, on Shopee and Tokopedia. Its market share is significantly higher than other brands, at 18.9%.
2. Vitaline (5%)
Vitaline is a brand that provides body care in the form of herbal supplements and claims to brighten the skin. Its sales on Shopee and Tokopedia were quite high during the period of August 1-15, achieving a 5% market share.
3. Nivea (2.8%)
This German body care product ranks third in the best-selling body care category on Shopee and Tokopedia with a 2.8% market share. One of Nivea's legendary products is Nivea Crème.
4. HB Whitening (2.6%)
This brand is one of the local cream products that functions to whiten the skin. On Shopee and Tokopedia in the body care category, HB Whitening has a market share of 2.6%.
5. SRI2 (2.4%)
This West Java-based brand provides facial and body care products throughout Indonesia through e-commerce platforms. On Shopee and Tokopedia, its sales reached a 2.4% market share.
6. Dosting (2.2%)
Dosting is next with a market share of 2.2%. Dosting's body care products include Night and Day Whitening Cream, Premium Natural Glow Soap, Body Toner, and Day and Night Body Lotion.
7. Kedas Beauty (2.2%)
This local brand's body care products include skin brightening products. Similar to Dosting, this brand's market share from August 1-15 was 2.2%. The most popular Kedas Beauty product is Kedas Beauty Soap.
8. Bierlian (2.2%)
Similar to the previous brand, Bierlian has a market share of 2.2%. In addition to selling body and facial care, Bierlian also sells men's body care and beauty packages.
9. MS Glow (2%)
MS Glow is currently one of the most popular beauty product brands in Indonesia. MS Glow also has clinics spread across Indonesian cities. MS Glow's market share in the body care category is 9th, at 2%.
10. Vaseline (2%)
This legendary American body care brand has a market share of 2%. Vaseline is known for its Petroleum Jelly product, which is used to moisturize very dry parts of the body.
