Indonesia's Rice Productivity Increased by 1.9% in 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's rice productivity in 2021 reached 52.26 quintals of dry milled rice (GKG) per hectare. This figure increased by 1.9% from the previous year's productivity of 51.28 quintals GKG per hectare.

Bali had the highest rice productivity in 2021, at 58.83 quintals GKG per hectare. This figure grew by 0.58% from the previous year's 58.49 quintals GKG per hectare, exceeding the national rice productivity of 52.26 quintals GKG/hectare.

The provinces with the next highest rice productivity were DKI Jakarta, at 58.03 quintals GKG per hectare, followed by West Java at 56.81 quintals GKG per hectare.

Meanwhile, the province with the lowest rice productivity in 2021 was Central Kalimantan, at only 30.28 quintals GKG per hectare. This was followed by Riau Islands with a productivity of 31.65 quintals GKG per hectare, and West Kalimantan with 31.9 quintals GKG per hectare.

Although productivity tended to increase, national rice harvest area decreased by 2.3% year-on-year to 10.41 million hectares in 2021.

National rice production also fell by 0.43% year-on-year to 54.42 million tons in 2021.
