For three consecutive years, the peak rice harvest season has occurred every March.

For three consecutive years, the rice harvest pattern from January to December 2015 was relatively the same as the rice harvest patterns in 2014 and 2013. The peak of the rice harvest occurred every March. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), at its peak in March 2015, the area harvested for rice in Indonesia reached 2.34 million hectares.

As reported in the September 2016 Socio-Economic Data Monthly Report, the total area harvested for rice in Indonesia in 2015 reached 14.1 million hectares. This figure represents a 2.31 percent increase compared to the previous year, which was only 13.8 million hectares. The rice harvest productivity in 2015 was recorded at 2.06 quintals per hectare.

In addition to reporting an increase in the annual harvested area, BPS also recorded that rice production in 2015 reached 75.40 million tons of milled dry paddy (GKG), or an increase of 4.55 million tons (6.42 percent) compared to the 2014 harvest period. The increase in rice production occurred on Java Island by 2.31 million tons, and outside Java Island by 2.24 million tons.
