Welfare Levels of Livestock Farmers in Java are the Lowest Nationally

The welfare of livestock farmers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is the lowest nationally. This is reflected in the livestock farmer exchange rate (NTPT) in the province, which was at 93.08 in November 2021.

Three provinces in Java, namely Banten, Central Java, and West Java, also have low livestock farmer welfare. This figure indicates that the welfare of livestock farmers in Yogyakarta has decreased by 6.91% from the initial position of the index calculation, namely 2018=100. This figure is also below the national average of 99.56 and lower than that of 34 other provinces.

Other provinces with the lowest livestock farmer welfare are Banten, with an NTPT of 94.71. Followed by Central Java with an NTPT of 95.47, then West Java with an NTPT of 96.39, and Bengkulu with an NTPT of 96.39.

There is also Aceh with an NTPT of 96.83, followed by West Sulawesi with an NTPT of 98.42, then North Maluku with an NTPT of 97.85, and Jambi and West Sumatra with NTPTs of 98.62 and 98.74 respectively.

NTPT > 100 indicates that livestock farmers experience a surplus because the income received is greater than the costs incurred. NTPT = 100 reflects that farmers break even, where the income received is equal to the costs incurred. While NTPT < 100 means that farmers experience a deficit because the income received is less than the costs incurred.
